Where does the time go?!
I spend most of my time in Flagstaff, so I'm lucky enough to experience the nuanced beauty of every season. I'll be the first to admit: summer is my all-time favorite season! But it's hard not to get excited when the days get a little shorter, there's a nip in the air, and the foliage explodes into fiery warm colors!
Here are some of my personal autumn favorites!
Photo of Kachina Trail from Arizona Highways
Like I said, the fall colors in northern Arizona cannot be topped! My favorite spots to admire the seasonal foliage are Kachina Trail and Aspen Corner.
Stuffed acorn squash
Okay, it's hard to beat comfort food in the fall. Dude and I spend a little more time in the kitchen this time of year, using our vintage 1950s O'Keefe and Merritt stove that we got from an old house in Jerome after a chance Craigslist posting.
Beer brats with homemade sauerkraut
When we're not making southwest jewelry for the holiday season, we're cooking up goodies like peach cobbler, stuffed acorn squash, homemade chili, venison enchiladas, and carrot cake.
Even though summer is near and dear to my heart, fall and winter fashions are always a breath of fresh air! I love mixing and matching scarves, jackets, gloves, hats, and layering various shirts. The deep jewel tones that are associated with this time of year are fabulous too. The bigger the sweater, the bigger my jewelry can be!
First Fires of the Season
Our living room features a cast iron wood burning stove, which we only start up when the temperatures start dipping! Dude and I installed it before our first winter together. We've yet to cook anything on it, but we do use it to boil water as a make-shift humidifier. This year Dude and I are planning on chopping our own firewood! I can't wait to get cozy on the couch and wait for the first snows.
