Just outside of Flagstaff, Arizona, you'll find my sweetheart and I in our cabin home. We spend most of our time in the studio, or hiking around in the forest with our studio dog Sugarfoot. When he’s not in the studio, Dude is often creating something delicious in the kitchen. When I say Dude, I'm of course referring to my husband, John Mettier.
Dude has been an artist his whole life, always inspired by working with his hands. He grew up in the Central Coast of California, and thankfully relocated in Arizona where we met in 2011. With a background in carpentry and tile contracting, there's nothing he can't build or fix.
Dude possesses an eye for the arts, and a natural gift for working with metals. The first piece of jewelry he ever made was a skull ring, carved out of wax, then cast into sterling silver. Thanks to my background, I already knew how to cast and had some of the equipment, the rest we purchased - some new and some used. His skills have only grown from there.
Excitingly, Dude became a lapidary artist beginning in 2019. That development was the catalyst for our ongoing collaborative collection, Heritage. By combining our talents and embracing southwest chic, the Heritage collection has become one of our most beloved collections.
Living and working with my sweetheart is a dream come true! I wouldn't want to spend my time any other way.
